About Me

I’m Dr Sarah Kuppen. Welcome to my site.  I hope you will find it full of useful information on the science of raising children.  I am a chartered psychologist and as well as being a university lecturer in developmental psychology. I am also a mom to two young boys.

My book Little Kids, Big Dilemmas:  Your parenting problems solved by science was published by Routledge on April 16th, 2018.  It uses developmental science to answer the big questions asked by parents on little kids.  I tackle the most controversial topics head on, like… can sleep training harm my baby, is screen time bad for my child, is breast always best?  My approach is to inform and leave my personal opinions out of it, any tips and advice are always research led.

In my academic work, I am interested in researching how children learn to read and develop spoken language. I ran a RCT (randomised controlled trial) of an early literacy programme using song and spoken rhythmic rhymes, called Tune Time, which you can find here. The materials are free to both parents and teachers, all I ask is that you leave your details.  This is so we know who is using our programme. Enjoy!
